Tom Lee's Bitmine Adds $74M in Ethereum, Declares a Crypto Bull Market 'Underway'

By Diego Whitfield · · 2 min read

Bitmine Immersion Technologies has expanded its Ethereum holdings once again, adding roughly $74 million worth of the second-largest cryptocurrency as chairman Tom Lee proclaimed that a fresh crypto bull market is now "underway."

A Growing Ethereum War Chest

The latest acquisition pushes Bitmine's total Ethereum reserves to nearly 5.99 million ETH, a stash that now represents about 4.9% of the entire circulating supply. The accumulation cements the company's position as one of the most aggressive corporate buyers of Ethereum, mirroring the treasury strategies that have become increasingly common among firms seeking exposure to digital assets.

Lee, a prominent market strategist and long-time crypto bull, has framed the continued buying as a bet on Ethereum's long-term trajectory. His firm has steadily built its position over recent months, treating dips as opportunities to add rather than reasons for caution.

"The outperformance of Ethereum is the clearest sign yet that the next leg higher has begun."

Reading the Market Signals

Central to Lee's thesis is the argument that Ethereum's recent strength relative to other assets points to a broader and more durable rally ahead. He contends that the token's momentum reflects rising demand and shifting sentiment among larger players in the market.

Lee also emphasized that institutional investors remain underweight on crypto, suggesting there is significant room for additional capital to flow into the sector. In his view, that untapped demand could fuel further gains as more traditional finance participants build positions.

Key points behind Bitmine's stance include:

  • Total holdings approaching 5.99 million ETH, or 4.9% of supply
  • A fresh purchase of about $74 million in Ethereum
  • A belief that institutions are still underexposed to digital assets
  • Confidence that Ethereum's outperformance signals a stronger move ahead

Whether the market rewards Bitmine's conviction remains to be seen, but the company continues to double down on Ethereum as its treasury asset of choice, betting that the current cycle has plenty of upside left to deliver.
