Payments firm OpenPayd targets year-end Nasdaq listing to fund U.S. expansion and acquisitions

By Diego Whitfield · · 2 min read

Payments infrastructure company OpenPayd is preparing for a Nasdaq listing before the end of the year, with proceeds earmarked for an expansion into the United States and a series of potential acquisitions, according to Chief Executive Iana Dimitrova.

A Public Market Debut on the Horizon

The company is targeting a year-end flotation on the Nasdaq exchange, a move that would provide fresh capital to accelerate its growth ambitions. The listing is central to OpenPayd's strategy as it looks to broaden its footprint beyond existing markets and compete more aggressively in the global payments sector.

Dimitrova indicated that the funds raised through going public would be directed toward two primary objectives: establishing a presence in the American market and pursuing deals that strengthen the firm's regulatory and technological capabilities.

Going public is the springboard OpenPayd intends to use to plant its flag in the world's largest financial market.

U.S. Launch and Acquisition Plans

OpenPayd has set its sights on launching operations in the U.S. by April 2027, a timeline that underscores the company's measured approach to entering a highly regulated and competitive environment. Breaking into the American market typically requires navigating a complex patchwork of state and federal rules.

To support that push, the company is actively evaluating acquisition targets. Dimitrova said OpenPayd is interested in deals that would bring additional licenses and technology into the fold, allowing it to scale faster than it could through organic growth alone.

Key priorities outlined by the CEO include:

  • Securing a Nasdaq listing before the end of the year
  • Launching U.S. operations by April 2027
  • Acquiring firms that add regulatory licenses and technical infrastructure

The combination of a public listing, geographic expansion and strategic dealmaking reflects the broader consolidation underway across the payments and fintech industry, as firms race to build out cross-border capabilities and regulatory reach.
