Crypto Stocks Rip Higher as Strategy Jumps 12%, Coinbase Climbs 9%

By Diego Whitfield · · 1 min read

Crypto-linked equities surged on Tuesday as Bitcoin's rebound toward $70,000 lifted the sector's biggest names, with Michael Saylor's Strategy jumping 12% and Coinbase adding 9% in a broad rally powered by a wave of short covering.

Stocks Ride Bitcoin's Momentum

The move across crypto stocks tracked Bitcoin's sharp recovery, as the leading digital asset clawed its way back toward the $70,000 mark following a stretch of pressure. The rebound sparked a short squeeze that rippled through the equities most closely tied to the crypto market.

Strategy, the enterprise software firm that has become the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, led the charge with a double-digit gain. Coinbase, the largest U.S. crypto exchange, followed with a 9% climb, while stablecoin issuer Circle and Bitcoin miner BitMine also posted notable advances.

When Bitcoin runs, the stocks built on it tend to run even harder.

The Short Squeeze Factor

Beyond simply mirroring Bitcoin's price action, some of these names appear to be squeezing equity short sellers directly. Traders who had bet against the stocks were forced to buy back shares to cover their positions as prices climbed, amplifying the upward moves.

That dynamic can create a feedback loop, where rising prices trigger more covering, which in turn pushes prices higher still. For heavily shorted names, the effect can be especially pronounced during periods of renewed enthusiasm for the underlying asset.

Key movers in the session included:

  • Strategy, up roughly 12%
  • Coinbase, up about 9%
  • Circle and BitMine, both posting gains alongside the broader sector

The rally underscores how tightly the fortunes of crypto-adjacent public companies remain bound to Bitcoin's price. As long as the digital asset holds its momentum, these equities are likely to remain among the market's most volatile—and closely watched—names.
