Bitcoin ETF outflows accelerate as investors pull $449M in three days

By Diego Whitfield · · 1 min read

US-listed spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds are bleeding capital, with investors withdrawing roughly $449 million over a three-day stretch as risk appetite across digital asset products cools.

Outflows Gather Pace

The exodus intensified on Thursday, when Bitcoin ETFs logged their heaviest single-day withdrawal since July at around $282 million. Leading the retreat was ARK 21Shares, which alone shed about $164 million as investors trimmed exposure to the flagship cryptocurrency.

The pullback caps a rough patch for the once red-hot ETF category, which had spent much of the year attracting steady inflows. The reversal suggests some holders are locking in gains or repositioning amid choppy market conditions and uncertainty over the direction of prices.

Three days of steady withdrawals signal that the ETF crowd is turning cautious on crypto.

Ether and Solana Feel the Chill

The selling pressure was not confined to Bitcoin. Ether-focused funds also recorded net outflows during the period, echoing the broader hesitancy among institutional and retail buyers alike. Newly launched Solana ETF products likewise saw money exit rather than enter.

The synchronized weakness across multiple crypto ETF categories underscores a wider shift in sentiment, rather than a problem specific to any single asset. When investors retreat from Bitcoin, related products often follow suit.

Key takeaways from the recent activity include:

  • Bitcoin ETFs lost about $449 million over three days
  • Thursday's $282 million outflow was the largest since July
  • ARK 21Shares drove the bulk of Thursday's exit at $164 million
  • Ether and Solana funds also posted net outflows

Whether the trend marks a temporary rotation or a deeper cooling in appetite for regulated crypto products will hinge on how prices and macro conditions evolve in the days ahead.
