Tom Lee’s Bitmine Buys More Ethereum, Adds to Stock Buyback

By Diego Whitfield · · 2 min read

BitMine Immersion Technologies, the Ethereum treasury firm chaired by Fundstrat's Tom Lee, has expanded both its cryptocurrency stockpile and its share repurchase program, the company announced this week as it presses ahead with an ambitious accumulation strategy.

Growing the Ethereum Hoard

BitMine said it purchased an additional 10,399 ETH over the past week, lifting its total holdings to roughly 5.8 million ETH. The acquisition marks another step in the company's declared mission to eventually control 5% of Ethereum's entire circulating supply.

The strategy positions BitMine among the most aggressive corporate holders of the second-largest cryptocurrency, mirroring the treasury-focused playbooks that have gained traction across the digital asset industry. Under Lee's leadership, the firm has consistently framed its ETH accumulation as a long-term bet on the network's growth.

The company is chasing a bold target: owning 5% of all Ethereum in circulation.

Doubling Down With Buybacks

Alongside its latest crypto purchase, BitMine also disclosed an addition to its stock buyback program. The repurchase effort signals management's confidence in the company's valuation and its intent to return value to shareholders while continuing to build its balance sheet around Ethereum.

The dual approach — stacking ETH while buying back shares — reflects a strategy aimed at reinforcing investor sentiment during a period of heightened attention on crypto treasury companies.

Key points from the announcement include:

  • An additional 10,399 ETH acquired in the past week
  • Total holdings now approaching 5.8 million ETH
  • A stated goal of owning 5% of Ethereum's circulating supply
  • An expanded share repurchase program

For Tom Lee, a longtime crypto bull known for his market forecasts, the moves underscore a continued conviction in Ethereum's role at the center of the digital economy as BitMine works to cement its standing among the leading institutional holders of the asset.
