Tom Lee's Bitmine Buys Another $47M of ETH, Taking It to 4.9% of Ethereum Supply

By Diego Whitfield · · 2 min read

Bitmine Immersion Technologies has expanded its Ethereum holdings once again, adding roughly $47 million worth of ETH and pushing its total stash to nearly 4.9% of the entire Ethereum supply, according to the company led by Wall Street strategist Tom Lee.

A Growing Ethereum Empire

The latest purchase reinforces Bitmine's position as one of the largest corporate holders of Ethereum. By steadily accumulating ETH, the firm has amassed a stake that now represents close to 5% of all Ether in circulation — a remarkable concentration for a single publicly traded company.

The company, chaired by Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee, has pursued an aggressive treasury strategy centered on Ethereum, mirroring the playbook that other firms have used with Bitcoin. Rather than simply holding the asset, Bitmine has put the vast majority of its tokens to work.

Nearly a fifth of all corporate Ethereum ambition now runs through a single company's treasury.

Staking for Yield

A key element of Bitmine's approach is staking, the process by which ETH holders lock up their tokens to help secure the network in exchange for rewards. The company has staked around 84% of its holdings, generating passive income on top of any price appreciation.

Bitmine projects that its staked position could produce roughly $358 million per year in staking rewards. That figure underscores how firms are increasingly treating Ethereum not just as a store of value but as a yield-bearing asset.

Key figures from Bitmine's strategy include:

  • A recent purchase of approximately $47 million in ETH
  • Total holdings equal to about 4.9% of the Ethereum supply
  • Roughly 84% of tokens actively staked
  • Projected annual staking rewards near $358 million

The strategy reflects a broader shift among corporate treasuries exploring Ethereum as an alternative to Bitcoin, drawn in part by the additional income stream that staking provides — a feature Bitcoin does not offer.
