Over $7.2 billion have migrated from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP as Mantle joins exodus

By Diego Whitfield · · 2 min read

More than $7.2 billion in assets has moved from LayerZero to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), signaling a notable realignment in the fiercely competitive market for shuttling value between blockchains. The shift has gathered pace as an expanding lineup of projects reroutes its cross-chain operations through Chainlink's infrastructure, with the modular layer-2 network Mantle counted among the newest to make the leap.

Chainlink CCIP Draws Billions in Value

The migration underscores growing pressure in a segment of crypto infrastructure where interoperability providers vie for the confidence of protocols that must move tokens and messages across networks. As additional platforms commit to CCIP, the running totals point to a meaningful change in how liquidity and tokenized assets travel between chains.

Bridging and messaging systems have become foundational to the wider blockchain economy, and the scale of this reshuffling illustrates just how much weight teams now place on choosing the right infrastructure. Decisions increasingly hinge on considerations such as security, reliability and breadth of network support.

More than $7.2 billion in value has migrated from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP, with Kelp and Lombard each transferring over $1 billion in assets.

Heavyweight Protocols Anchor the Shift

Several prominent projects sit at the center of the migration. The restaking protocol Kelp and the Bitcoin liquidity project Lombard have each relocated more than $1 billion in assets to Chainlink's system, accounting for a sizable portion of the overall total on their own. That concentration highlights how much of the movement is being driven by larger participants.

A broader collection of projects has also joined the exodus, spanning multiple corners of the market:

  • Solv Protocol
  • Virtuals
  • Re
  • Kraken's tokenized assets
  • Mantle, the latest to sign on

The diversity of participants — reaching from restaking and Bitcoin liquidity to tokenized products and AI-adjacent platforms — suggests interest that spans categories rather than clustering in a single niche.

A Reshaping Interoperability Market

The breadth of the movement demonstrates how central cross-chain messaging and bridging solutions have become to blockchain activity at large. As teams evaluate where to route their operations, the competition among interoperability providers appears to be intensifying, with security and dependability emerging
