Live updates: Bitcoin flat near $63,500, but the flows have quietly turned

By Diego Whitfield · · 2 min read

Bitcoin is trading roughly flat near $63,500, but beneath the placid price action a meaningful shift in market flows is taking shape. Fresh institutional demand is arriving through US spot exchange-traded funds even as available supply on exchanges remains historically scarce, according to analysts tracking the moves.

Quiet Turn in the Flows

While bitcoin's price has barely budged, the underlying picture has changed. US spot ETFs absorbed more than 14,000 BTC over a recent five-day stretch, signaling renewed appetite from institutional buyers. That inflow marks a notable reversal from earlier periods of muted or negative demand.

According to ARP Digital's Yusuf Fakhro, third-quarter flows have flipped positive, suggesting that the tide of capital moving into bitcoin has quietly turned in favor of buyers. The steady accumulation is happening without triggering a dramatic price rally, a dynamic that often precedes sharper moves.

Fresh demand is landing in the thinnest, most sold-out market in years.

A Thin, Sold-Out Market

The significance of the inflows is amplified by conditions on the supply side. Fakhro described the current environment as one of the thinnest and most sold-out markets in years, meaning there is comparatively little bitcoin readily available for purchase on exchanges.

When new demand meets constrained supply, even modest buying pressure can eventually produce outsized price reactions. For now, though, the market has absorbed the ETF inflows without a corresponding surge, keeping bitcoin anchored around the $63,500 mark.

Key points from the latest flow data include:

  • More than 14,000 BTC flowed into US spot ETFs over five days
  • Q3 flows have shifted from negative to positive
  • Available exchange supply remains historically tight

Traders are watching closely to see whether the accumulation continues and whether the imbalance between rising demand and limited supply eventually forces a breakout from the current range.
