Circle expands USDC to OKX ecosystem with X Layer launch

By Priya Chen · · 1 min read

Circle has brought its USD Coin (USDC) stablecoin to X Layer, the blockchain network tied to cryptocurrency exchange OKX, giving users of the ecosystem direct access to the issuer's native stablecoin and cross-chain transfer capabilities.

## Native USDC Arrives on X Layer The integration means X Layer now supports Circle-issued USDC rather than relying on bridged versions of the token, which are often wrapped assets originating from other networks. Native issuance typically offers users greater assurance around redemption and reliability, since the tokens are minted directly by Circle.

Alongside the stablecoin itself, the rollout includes support for Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP), a mechanism that allows USDC to move between supported blockchains without the friction and risk associated with traditional bridging solutions.

Native USDC removes the reliance on wrapped tokens, giving users a more direct and dependable stablecoin experience.

## A Push Across Major Ecosystems The move reflects Circle's broader strategy of embedding USDC across a growing roster of blockchain networks. By expanding into the OKX-linked ecosystem, the company positions its stablecoin to reach a wider base of traders, developers and decentralized application users.

For X Layer, the addition strengthens the network's appeal as a destination for on-chain activity, with a widely used dollar-pegged asset now available for payments, trading and liquidity provision.

Key elements of the launch include:

  • Native USDC issued directly by Circle on X Layer
  • Support for the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol for seamless transfers
  • Expanded access for OKX ecosystem participants

As stablecoins continue to play a central role in crypto markets, expansions like this underscore the competition among issuers to secure presence across the leading blockchain ecosystems.
