BNB Chain is building a new layer-1 for high-frequency trading and AI agents

By Diego Whitfield · · 2 min read

BNB Chain is developing a new layer-1 blockchain engineered specifically for high-frequency trading and applications powered by artificial intelligence agents, targeting two of the fastest-growing corners of the crypto industry with infrastructure built for speed.

A Bid for Speed-Hungry Markets

The forthcoming network is being designed around latency-sensitive workloads that existing mainstream blockchains tend to handle poorly. By focusing on rapid execution and heavy throughput, BNB Chain is positioning itself to attract activity from professional traders and automated systems whose strategies depend on near-instant settlement.

At the center of the effort is an aggressive performance goal: processing more than 100,000 transactions per second. Hitting that mark would put the chain among the most ambitious throughput projects in the market and underscore BNB Chain's intent to compete aggressively for high-speed on-chain activity.

Rethinking the Transaction Pipeline

To reach those figures, the network plans to stream transactions directly rather than routing them through a conventional public queue, commonly referred to as a mempool. That architectural change is meant to shave off delays and accelerate execution, tackling a bottleneck that has long frustrated traders operating on millisecond margins.

The team behind the project contends the redesign also carries security advantages. Eliminating the public queue would reduce the visibility of pending trades to outside observers, cutting down on opportunities for front-running and other manipulation tactics that flourish when order flow is exposed.

Removing the public transaction queue could shield traders from front-running by keeping pending trades out of sight from opportunistic outside actors.

Courting Traders and AI Agents

The blockchain's design is aimed squarely at users who prize rapid, dependable settlement — chiefly professional traders and the growing category of AI-driven on-chain applications. Both groups place a premium on speed and capacity, making them a natural fit for a network built around high throughput.

Key elements of the planned chain include:

  • A throughput target exceeding 100,000 transactions per second
  • Direct transaction streaming instead of a public mempool
  • A reduced attack surface for front-running and trade manipulation
  • A focus on latency-sensitive trading and AI agent workloads

If BNB Chain follows through on these plans, it stands to reinforce its footing in fast-moving trading markets while positioning itself to capture the emerging wave of autonomous, AI
