Bitmine now controls 4.9% of Ethereum supply after adding 53.5K ETH

By Diego Whitfield · · 2 min read

Bitmine has expanded its Ethereum holdings once again, adding 53,500 ETH to its treasury and pushing its control of the total Ether supply to roughly 4.9%, even as the broader crypto market weathers a significant downturn.

An Unbroken Accumulation Streak

The latest purchase marks the 65th consecutive week that Bitmine has added Ether to its balance sheet. The firm has stuck rigidly to its accumulation strategy, buying steadily regardless of price swings or shifting market sentiment.

That kind of persistence is unusual in an industry defined by volatility. By continuing to acquire ETH week after week, Bitmine has positioned itself as one of the most significant corporate holders of the asset, wielding influence over a meaningful slice of the circulating supply.

Buying every single week for more than a year, Bitmine has turned relentless accumulation into a corporate identity.

Weathering Steep Paper Losses

The strategy has not come without pain. Bitmine is currently sitting on roughly $5.1 billion in unrealized losses, a reflection of the prolonged slump that has gripped digital assets in recent months.

Because those losses are unrealized, they exist only on paper for as long as the company continues to hold rather than sell. Bitmine's willingness to keep buying through the drawdown signals a long-term conviction in Ethereum's eventual recovery rather than a short-term trading play.

Corporate treasury strategies built around a single crypto asset carry obvious risks, tying a firm's fortunes tightly to the price movements of one token. For Bitmine, the bet remains that time and continued accumulation will pay off.

  • 53,500 ETH added in the latest purchase
  • Roughly 4.9% of total Ether supply now under Bitmine's control
  • 65 straight weeks of buying
  • About $5.1 billion in current paper losses

Whether the approach ultimately rewards the company will depend heavily on where Ethereum heads next, but for now Bitmine shows no sign of breaking its buying streak.
