Bitfinex Securities lists tokenized notes tied to Strategy, Metaplanet

By Priya Chen · · 2 min read

Bitfinex Securities has launched a series of tokenized notes tied to the stock performance of major corporate Bitcoin holders, including Strategy and Metaplanet, giving eligible investors a blockchain-based way to gain exposure to publicly traded companies.

What Is Being Offered

The platform is listing five equity-backed notes issued through Luxembourg's ORO II fund. The instruments are designed to track the value of shares held by well-known firms that have built their treasuries around Bitcoin, offering investors a novel pathway to gain exposure without directly holding the underlying stock.

Each note can be traded against multiple settlement options, including US dollars, the stablecoin Tether, and Bitcoin itself. This flexibility allows participants to move in and out of positions using the assets they already prefer to hold.

Tokenization is pushing traditional equity exposure onto the blockchain, one note at a time.

Who Can Participate

The offering is restricted to eligible investors located outside the United States, reflecting the regulatory constraints that continue to shape how tokenized securities are distributed. US-based participants remain excluded from this particular product due to compliance considerations.

By routing the notes through a regulated Luxembourg fund structure, Bitfinex Securities aims to blend the transparency and efficiency of blockchain settlement with an established legal framework for securities issuance.

Key details of the launch include:

  • Five distinct equity-backed notes tied to corporate Bitcoin holders
  • Trading pairs against dollars, USDT and Bitcoin
  • Availability limited to non-US eligible investors

The Bigger Picture

The move underscores the growing appetite for tokenized real-world assets, a sector that has attracted increasing attention as firms look to bring conventional financial instruments onto digital rails. Companies like Strategy and Metaplanet have become closely watched proxies for Bitcoin exposure, making their equity performance a natural target for tokenization.

As more issuers experiment with blending traditional finance and crypto infrastructure, offerings like these could signal a broader shift toward on-chain access to equities and other regulated products.
